Sr Web Designer

Position Description:

The mission of the Web Strategies and Solutions (WSS) team is two fold.
• Working with firm business leaders, guide and evolve our external web sites (public and private), multimedia solutions, and web enabled communication practices to meet the strategic needs of our business
• Help employees to communicate more effectively, find information quickly, and share knowledge/collaborate globally through the implementation of complete web/multimedia solutions

To achieve these goals, the WSS Team must serve as a strategic partner to the business managing all aspects of a solution from strategic planning to implementation. The Senior Web Designer is a key contributor to these efforts.

Responsibilities:
The Senior Web Designer collaborates with internal clients to conceptualize, recommend, design, develop and implement web, multimedia and/or knowledge management solutions that deliver industry-leading communication experiences to both internal and external audiences. Specific responsibilities include the following:
• Translate business goals/concepts of internal clients into design recommendations and communication solutions; proactively educate clients on evolving trends and suggests ideas for incorporating best practices into current projects
• Develop visual, online, communication solutions for both internal and external audiences including but not limited to new web sites, site enhancements/refresh, multimedia, web 2.0, internal knowledge management solutions, HTML emails, etc.
• For all initiatives, complete required analysis and define detailed requirements including technology approach; develop wire frames, story boards, and prototypes as required for project
• Apply a strong understanding of visual design, human factors, usability and technology standards to ensure a consistent and optimal audience experience
• Implement and evolve Wellington Management design parameters, style guides and visual standards
• Apply a strong understanding of web, multimedia, or knowledge management tools and structures to implement solutions which consider operational elements beyond the business request (e.g., search engine optimization)
• Proactively monitor web, multimedia, and knowledge management trends
• Continue to grow technology expertise through proactive research, self-training, industry coursework etc.; leverage best practices whenever possible
• Proactively builds professional relationships with internal clients globally
• Work collaboratively with business partners, project managers and systems teams to deliver high quality results that exceed expectations within project timeline and budget

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, relevant business experience and 8-10 years of relevant web design, multimedia or knowledge management experience within the asset management or financial services industries. Candidate must display proficiency for investment concepts and products. In addition, the following qualifications are required:
• Proven ability to conceptualize, sketch, and implement ideas for web, multimedia and/or knowledge management
• A strong and varied online portfolio, displaying design processes and execution of concepts, containing examples of web sites and/or multimedia supporting a range of business goals
• A sound understanding of design principles, industry standards and UI best practices
• Proactive, solutions oriented mindset
• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
• Open and eager to learn in support of evolving business needs
• Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent time-management skills
• Strong relationship management skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in some or all of the following tools is preferred, with a proven ability to expand and grow technical skills in support of evolving business needs:
• Advanced skills in (X)HTML, and CSS with the ability to hand-code standards-based, SEO-friendly HTML and CSS code
• Must be proficient to expert in Dreamweaver or compatible applications
• Knowledge of JavaScript, DOM scripting and cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements
• Experience with Flash and ActionScript
• Experience with JavaScript libraries (jQuery, MooTools, etc.)
• Experience with web analytic tools
